Promoting Well Being

The sexual health team comprises a Senior Health Promotion Officer, a Sexual Health Advisor, a Youth Health Advice Nurse and a Youth Health Advice Support Officer .

The work of the team revolves around strategic, operational and clinical developments and provision in the field of sexual health.

The team can offer the following range of services related to sexual health provision:

• Policy and strategy development
• Programme development
• Service development
• Health needs assessment
• Training
• Development of health alliances for sexual health and wellbeing
• Consultancy on matters related to sexual health in the education, youth, health, voluntary and community settings

The team advocates a “whole systems approach” to sexual health development that focuses on the social, environmental and economic determinants of sexual health rather than solely on the behaviours that lead to sexual disease and ill health.
