LAC ACHIEVEMENT EVENT 2010
On 23 March 2010, the Trust hosted a second annual Achievement Event for young people who are ‘Looked After’ in the Trust. Over 100 young people, who live or have lived in residential or foster care, were nominated by their Social Workers for their wide-range of achievements in various fields. These included education, sport, training, employment and endeavour. The young people were supported at the event by family, Foster Carers and Social Workers. The event was also supported by Mrs Mairead McAlinden (Acting) Chief Executive, Mr Brian Dornan Director of Children and Young People’s Services, Non-Executive Directors and other Managers from the Trust, SELB, Fostering Network and VOYPIC (Voice of Young People in Care). The event was a great success and the contributions from the young people were particularly well received. Three young people spoke at the event. Each young person was presented with a Certificate and gift and will receive a personal photograph as a memento of the day.
