Community Development Training Programme

Funding has been secured from HSCB for a 3 –year Community Development Training Programme for Trust staff. The contract has been awarded to the Rural College, Derrynoid who designed and delivered a very successful Community Development training programme during 2005 -2008.

 

Basic Community Development Awareness training (half – 1 hour session)– is already available on request from your local Promoting Wellbeing Team

However, training is now also available at 2 further levels:

 

Community Development Training for Managers – a half –day session- 25 places per session

This half day session will cover areas such as:

 

  • Introduction to work of Promoting Wellbeing Teams in each locality
  • Community Development in a Policy Context and links with health improvement and PPI (service user involvement)
  • Case study of benefits of working through a community development approach
  • Commitment to action
  • Highlighting Sources of support – internal and external

 

Community Development Specialist Training – 4 days – 15 places per locality and 15 places for Acute hospital staff

  • Introduction to CD principles and good practice examples
  • PPI & CD linking to consultation, participation and partnership
  • Networking, Facilitation skills and techniques
  • Leadership and champions – Action planning for the future & sources of support.
