(Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is a two day workshop designed to help increase suicide first aid skills and build community networks among many types of caregiver groups. ASIST was developed in Canada by Living Works in 1985 and is now the most widely used suicide first aid training in the world.
The two-day course also helps to identify the signs of suicidal behaviours and enables participants to identify the risks and develop a safe plan for the person at risk. To date there have been over 240 people trained in ASIST. Participants on the training have included teachers, youth workers, Doctors, Nurses, community workers and members of the clergy. |
