Southern Area Accident Prevention Liaison Group

The Southern Area Accident Prevention Liaison Group (SAAPLG) is a multi-agency group made up of a collection of local statutory and voluntary organisations. SAAPLG provides an exchange of professional advice and information on accidents prevention issues and programmes to stimulate further cooperation and progress in the Southern Trust area. SAAPLG has no legal or political status.

Group activities include:

  • identifying the relevant variables for an accident and making contact with other appropriate organisations who have an interest in or expertise in accident prevention;
  • collecting and sharing relevant data for implementing and monitoring local accident prevention activities;
  • maintaining a position of influence for the group by responding to local, regional and national policies/consultations which have a bearing on accident prevention through contact with elected members, statutory and voluntary organisations;
  • maintaining an active media presence to raise awareness of accident causes, local prevalence and their prevention;
  • commissioning, producing and disseminating appropriate resource materials, where these are not available from other sources.

The group meets on a quarterly basis and is supported and facilitated by the Promoting Wellbeing Team.
