The Ups and Downs of Falling (Booklet) March 2009

A newly revised version of the 'Ups and Downs of Falling' booklet has been produced by the Promoting Wellbeing Team. This publication was originally produced by a multi-disciplinary team of Allied Health Professionals to provide advice on:

  • the causes of falling
  • how to prevent falls
  • what to do if you have had a fall.

Ups and Downs of Falling cover

Falls are the most common home accident for older people and can have very serious consequences. Research indicates that people who have fallen once are likely to have another fall. There are many different reasons why people fall but advice is clear that people should not ignore a fall. There are many things that you can do to reduce your risk of falling and a number of Falls Clinics are now established across the Southern Trust area.
